Ingredients:
2 cups dry hibiscus flowers
4 inches fresh ginger root (sliced )
8-10 cups water
Sugar to your tastes
Cubed Ice (optional)
Cinnamon stick (optional)
How to make it:
In a strainer, run the hibiscus flower under running water. Make sure every flower is well ransed.
In a large pot, add the hibiscus flowers, sliced ginger and 8 -10 cups of water. Allow to simmer on low heat for 30 minutes. Do not boil. Let it take its time and slowly cook. This allows the hibiscus flower enough time to extract into the water.
After 30 minutes, strain the ginger and hibiscus flowers from the now hibiscus tea. Be Careful not to burn yourself when straining it. You can also wait until it cools before straining.
After straining, wait until the tea is cool, then add your preferred amount of sugar. Stir well.
Serve with ice and a cinnamon stick.
You can also freeze the tea. In small cups or in clear plastic bread bags, tie it and freeze for 8 hours.
Enjoy!
